Confidence and Self Esteem

When we feel we lack self confidence or have low self esteem, we are taking a view on ourselves. It is a personal judgement or belief in our ability to do something or about oneself.

Sadly, many of us feel we lack confidence at some point in our lives and would like to have better self esteem.

Sometimes our lack of confidence is related to only one area of our lives .... lack of confidence as a parent or lack of confidence in our job. Yet in other instances, many of us feel an overall sense of worthlessness and label ourselves as having low self esteem.

There are many contributing factors which shape the views we have of ourselves. Our social environment, the media or our relationships, lack of experience, negative experiences in the past or fear of failing in the future.

Shyness in front of members of the opposite sex or in group situations may cause us to believe we have little confidence when placed in certain circumstances.

The bottom line is that our sense of confidence and self esteem is a belief we hold about ourselves.

I have successfully helped many clients go from feeling very insecure, shy and/or having low self esteem to feeling confident (not arrogant!) with a strong sense of self worth and high self esteem.
